Queensland College of Art’s printmaking facilities are recognised nationally for the range of autographic printmaking techniques they support. During their time at QCA students are encouraged to prepare for a contemporary creative practice that employs print culture as a tool to critically engage contemporary issues.
The studios facilitate the instruction and practice of printmaking across the range of degrees offered at QCA. This includes the fundamental printmaking processes
of Relief, Intaglio, Lithography and Silk Screening. The studios also support Artists
Books and Papermaking practices, and a diverse engagement with Digital
technologies such as Laser Engraving.
An introduction to print is offered in the foundation year
of Fine Art studies at QCA. Focused learning into one or more of the
recognised technical specialisation is then offered for the duration
of a students studies. Short workshops are regularly opened up to the
broad cohort of QCA students for those with specific needs. The studios
also support post graduate and honours students investigations
and research.
As do all working environments, the studios involve
WH&S risks. These are managed through WH&S working
procedures. When adhered to the procedures ensure the studios are
safe places to work in.
